Umrah travel checklist: what to prepare before you fly from Bangladesh

Preparing well lets you focus on your worship rather than on paperwork. This checklist covers the practical side of travelling for Umrah from Bangladesh. Rules can change, so always confirm the latest requirements with official Saudi sources or an authorised Umrah agent before you travel.
1. Passport
- Your passport should be valid for at least six months from your travel date, with blank pages.
- Make sure the name on your passport matches the name on your ticket and visa exactly.
- Keep photocopies and a photo of your passport separate from the original.
2. Visa
You need a valid visa that allows Umrah. How it is issued has changed in recent years, so check the current process through official channels or an authorised agent. Apply early, especially for Ramadan, when demand is highest.
3. Flights
- Most travellers fly into Jeddah (JED); some fly to Medina (MED) and visit Medina first.
- Non-stop and one-stop flights are available from Dhaka; flights from Chattogram and Sylhet may connect.
- Check the baggage allowance, including any Zamzam water allowance, before you book.
- Book early for Ramadan and school holidays.
Compare Dhaka to Jeddah and Dhaka to Medina flights.
4. Health
Saudi Arabia sets vaccination requirements for Umrah pilgrims, and meningococcal vaccination has long been required. Check the current Saudi Ministry of Health requirements well before travel and keep your vaccination certificate with your passport. Take any regular medicines in their original packaging with a copy of your prescription.
5. Money
- Carry some Saudi riyals for the first day; you can exchange more there.
- Tell your bank you are travelling so your card is not blocked abroad.
6. Packing
- Ihram clothing for men, and modest, comfortable clothing for women.
- Comfortable footwear — you will walk a lot.
- A small bag for your belongings in the mosques, unscented toiletries, and a refillable water bottle.
- A travel eSIM or local SIM so you can stay in touch with your group — see our eSIM plans.
7. On travel day
- Arrive at the airport at least three hours before departure.
- Keep your passport, visa, ticket and vaccination certificate together in your hand luggage.
- If you are flying straight to Makkah for Umrah, plan when to enter Ihram before you board.
May your Umrah be accepted. Search flights for your journey.
